John

Picture
Having failed for years to write the great British novel John has resorted to writing songs - a two-minute song being easier to dash off than a 1,000 page novel. It also gives him more time to concentrate on playing guitar, violin, concertina and mandolin - and also to find the perfect pint of Old Speckled Hen.

Margaret

Picture
Before seeing the dark, Margaret learned to sing in the Salvation Army where she earned the coveted black belt in the art of self-defence with a tambourine (the weapon of choice for sellers of War Cry in pubs). She now also plays autoharp, bowed psaltery and hammered dulcimer and the Fox-headed lagerphone.

In addition to singing in clubs - particularly Havering Folk Club and the Fab Club in Grays - Foxen can also be found occasionally playing for the Border Morris sides Lodestone of Devon, the Wreckers of Cornwall and the Widders of Chepstow.
John is particularly proud of his guitar - a vintage Bartram made by the wonderful player and luthier Richard Bartram of Littleport, Cambridgeshire.
